"Robin on a Post" - limited edition linocut print

A slightly festive and previously unreleased limited edition linocut print - which very excitingly, will feature as a project in my new book on linocut printing which is due to be published on 31st March 2024!

This print is made by carving two separate lino blocks and printing them in different colours, one on top of the other. The piece is inspired by a very friendly and bold robin I have met on many of my walks in Rayleigh Mount, near my home in Essex.

Allowing himself to be photographed at close range as he perched on a low post close to the entrance of the Mount was helpful in providing me with a perfect source image to use in creating the print.  I wanted to achieve a stylised, slightly decorative feel to the image - and of course it was essential to showcase the warm and cheerful orangey-red of the robin's breast!
