"Green Woodpecker on the Hill" - limited edition linocut print

A brand new linocut inspired by my recent sightings of beautiful green woodpeckers, foraging amongst fallen leaves on the grassy slope that leads to the top of Rayleigh Mount, a National Trust  "hidden gem" which is close to my home in Essex.

This print is made by carving three separate lino blocks and printing them in different colours, one on top of the other. I added the vibrant scarlet for the crown of the woodpecker, onto the base block, along with the light green. I wanted to work with uplifting colours, whilst giving an energy to the piece with strong, bold carved marks.  I am so pleased with the composition of this print and how the woodpecker is framed by the other elements, making him very much the centre of attention!
